An apple a day keeps cancer away
Source: Science Daily
Remember what our elders used to say? "Don't peel your apples. The nutrition content is there in the skin". Well...this statement has got more strength now from the recent discovery of anti-cancer properties in the apple skin.
Previously, It was thought that the skin was only rich in dietary fibre. But now, researchers have found out substances in the peel that could prevent cancer.
The experiment was conducted on Red Delicious Apples and the peels were analysed for compounds that could have anti-cancer properties. They found out that the compound Triterpenoid has anti-proliferative properties and could prove to a useful anti-cancer compound.
The test was conducted on cultures of human liver, breast and colon cancer cells.

Produce produced in the US is for the most part full of cancer preventing AND cancer causing agents!
You see, produce--furits, vegetables, nuts,legumes-- produced in the US is for the most part exposed to substances that are cacinogenic or otherwise toxic/unfit for human consumption....
So I hope that if people read this and start eating more "Red Delicious" apples, or any apples for that matter, that they eat those that have not been sprayed, gassed, waxed, altered with DNA from another genus let alone another kingdom, or otherwise tampered with or treated.

I eat an organic apple everyday including the core. I space the seeds out to 1 every few hours. Have to get that B-17 somehow!
Hello Everyone,
As we know by now, there are always two sides to each story so as to the benefit or 'possible harm' to fruit.
Here is the article that provides us with pros and cons. "Environmental Working Group (EWG) based on the results of nearly 43,000 tests for pesticides on produce collected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration between 2000 and 2004." Personally, I still eat my fruit fully only wash them but hardly ever peel them. Since research groups are presenting us with some kind of harm in our food, drinks or even the negative health effect of plastic water bottles almost daily, all we can do is to be aware of them and make our choices accordingly.
